The Seminar “Recent advances in functionalized plastic materials, bio-based materials and additive manufacturing" in Kokkola

SMART WPC - project organized a seminar “Recent advances in functionalized plastic materials, bio-based materials and additive manufacturing”. The seminar was held on 11th September 2019 at Centria University of Applied Sciences in Kokkola. It attracted more than 50 participants from 12 different companies and research organizations.

In last years, interest in plastics with new features, bio-based materials and 3D printing has increased significantly. Concerns about the future of our common environment, stricter legislation, and targets to increase production efficiency have contributed to this interest. The main objective of the seminar was to exchange information between researchers and industry and to share the main advances and challenges of each industry. Seminars focused on applications of leading plastic compounds, new bio-based materials and robotics in additive manufacturing. The seminar introduced companies and research organizations from Finland and Sweden.

The participants thanked the seminar for its current and important topics. They proved to be suitable for professionals and complemented each other well. When the interesting presentations ended, the 3D printing technology was introduced to the robot in the laboratory of Centria Polytechnic.
